Tricky answer to this puzzle

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?




I know this is such a cliche question, but I started thinking about it and realized that it's actually a bit complex.

yes that's a tough question, but on the same line,"if a tree falls on your house and you are not at home at the time, does it make a sound?

is a tricky one but there could be a way to check both answers.

if sound is the air vibration, then the answer is yes.
If sound is only sound if it affects someone´s nervous system, then the answer is no

Yes, But I think the sound is generated whether someone is there to hear it or not

Yes----vibrations designated as "sound bites" are picked up on various equipment, ie Richter Scales and "space noise" or chatter from deep space which is no more than atom movement. Sounds good to me. LOL
