Hi Everybody,

Nice to be in this forum. I'm a Newbie, interested in having Dish, just wanted to know whether its legal to install Dish on your own and get signals from satellite. I think everybody here is in US, i'm here too,so i'm bit apprehensive. I'm thinking just getting free to air channels would be legal , and i don't need to contact any networks to install it. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Welcome to the site brother, to answer your question, if you want to do thing legal then get a subscription from any of the Dish companies, and your allowed to put anything on your house you choose, I have asked the satellite companies to quit sending the signal to my house many time but they still continue, so occasionally I do test it to make sure it's not harmful. So you have a choice to use their equipment with a subscription, or read in the how to's with your own equipment and become a tester as well. Good luck which ever you choose Brother

So i guess then it is illegal for me to buy equipment(dish, lnb, receiver ....) on my own and install it and watch television. Is that the way everybody is doing here. How will they come to know, whoever, if they, can they sue us. Please let me know if this makes sense. and what do you mean by testing ?. Appreciate your times friends.
