REVIVING/RECOVERING A CNX

Before we proceed with this option, please understand that this is ONLY to be used to recover a dead or bad performing CNX unit and NOT to be used to load upgrade files or patches to!

You will need to download 2 files (CNX_Util_beta_version and a ".LDR" file) in order to recover a CNX unit. As well, you will need a null modem cable to perform this option.

Duo/Trio use the same .LDR file. The Mini uses a different .LDR file. Please be sure to download the right file for your machine. All 3 machines use the same recovery loader.

You can find/download these files at your favorite FTA website.

Please be sure to unzip/extract your downloaded files to your desktop before we start this tutorial

Please hook up your receiver with a null modem cable to your pc and hook it up to power, but leave the switch located on the back to the "OFF" position.
Open the CNX_Util_beta_version exe file
Once opened, at the top, look for and select the "Connection" option
From the dropdown, select "Connect"
A new popup window will appear that states "setting option"
Please select your Com Port using the dropdown within the "setting option" window (most pc's use Com port 1 as their default)
Now select "Set-top box" from the top menu
Under that dropdown, select "Firmware upgrade"
A popup window will appear named "software upgrade"
Leave all settings the way they are
Look for "File to load"
Under "File to load" look for and select the "Select" button
In your file name box type in an "*" (without quotes)
Now look for the .LDR file you downloaded and extracted to your desktop and select it
Once you have loaded the .LDR file, towards the bottom of the "software upgrade" window, press the "Upgrade" button
Once the "Upgrade" button is pressed, turn your CNX machine to the "ON" position using the rocker switch located on the rear of the machine
The main CNX_Util_beta_version window should now start and you should see it sending requests at the lower portion of the window.
Once the main CNX_Util_beta_version window stops responding, your CNX machine has been revived/recovered
You can now close the "software upgrade" window
Now MAXIMIZE the main CNX_Util_beta_version window
The last line of the sent requests should say something like "Branding to loaded code image’s entry". This is an indication/confirmation that your unit has been fully recovered
Close all windows, remove your unit and test it to be sure its been recovered.
*** note: Loading this .LDR file will also have loaded the NEW factory bin file ***
