| Programming Via USB Download The NEWEST Factory Bin File From Your Favorite FTA Support Site Download The NEWEST Upgrade/Bin/Firmware File From Your Favorite FTA Support Site Unzip/Extract Both Downloaded Files To Your Desktop Plug Your USB Drive/Thumbstick Into Your PC/Laptop/Computer Go To Start > My Computer And Find Your USB Drive/Thumbstick And Open It (ex; ) Now Hold Left Click Down And Drag Both Unzipped/Extracted Files To Your USB Drive/Thumbstick Window Once Transferred, You're Done At Your PC/Laptop/Computer Plug USB Drive/Thumbstick Into CNX Mini/Duo/Trio(TOP) Front USB Port Located Behind The Front Panels Right Hand Side Door Using Your Remote, Press The Menu Button Scroll Right To Utility Scroll Down To USB and press "OK" button from remote Select And Highlight The FACTORY File, Press OK, And Select The "BootLoader Upgrade" Option And Press OK Again After Reboot, Repeat Steps 10 And 11, And Select The Upgrade/BIN/Firmware File (usually v2.?? / v3.??), Press OK, And Select The "S/W Upgrade" Option And Press OK Again Your Receiver Has Been Programmed :-) *** note: An additional 3rd file *.EXX file (known as a patch file - the * name refers to and is the date of the file). If this is the case, repeat the same steps above (H-K) but load the patch file instead. There is no need to worry about the "bootloader upgrade" option or "s/w upgrade option", as there is no options available when loading the patch file. Patch file should be loaded LAST. *** If you are unsure whether you should load a patch file or not, please check with your favorite FTA website first *** SCANNING These are settings of what I use for DP (Dishpro) LNB's and Legacy (Non-Dishpro) LNB's This is also how and what I use to scan every single time for both types of LNB's Individual results will vary, but if you follow exactly, you should be good to go and scanning should go well Dishpro (Echostar 7 & Echostar 8/10 Only - 2 sats) Press the "Menu" button from remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode Press right button (dial around "OK" button) and go to "Installation" Press down button (dial around "OK" button) and go down to "DISEqC Switch" Press "OK" on "DISEqC Switch" You should now be inside The "DISEqC Switch" Menu You should be highlighted on the first DISEqC Port (DISEqC 1) that states "None" Click "OK" button from remote on the highlighted "None" selection You should now see a popup window displayng all of the satellites within your CNX machine Press down button (dial around "OK" button),look for and go down to "Echo7" Press "OK" button from remote on "Echo7" You should now be out of the popup window and back to and highlighted on "Echo7" Press down button (dial around "OK" button) and go down to "11250" Press "OK" button from remote on the highlighted "11250" You should now see a popup window with different LNB types/frequencies Press up button (dial around "OK" button) and go up to "Dishpro 1" Press "OK" button from remote on the highlighted "Dishpro 1" You should now be out of the popup window and back to and highlighted on "Dishpro 1" Satellite # 1 (DISEqC 1) has been setup. Move on to the next satellite below You should now be back inside The "DISEqC Switch" Menu Press down button (dial around "OK" button) and go down to "DISEqC 2" Click "OK" button from remote on the highlighted "None" selection You should now see a popup window displayng all of the satellites within your CNX machine Press down button (dial around "OK" button),look for and go down to "Echo8/10" Press "OK" button from remote on "Echo8/10" You should now be out of the popup window and back to and highlighted on "Echo8/10" Press down button (dial around "OK" button) and go down to "11250" Press "OK" button from remote on the highlighted "11250" You should now see a popup window with different LNB types/frequencies Press up button (dial around "OK" button) and go up to "Dishpro 1" Press "OK" button from remote on the highlighted "Dishpro 1" You should now be out of the popup window and back to and highlighted on "Dishpro 1" Satellite # 2 (DISEqC 2) has been setup. Proceed To scan below Now that both satellites are setup let's scan for channels Press down button (dial around "OK" button) and go down to "Search" You should now be in the "Satellite Search" window It may take a minute for it to start scanning, but nonetheless, let it be and let it do its thing Press "OK" button from remote when scanning has completed. You are now done scanning. If this is the case, setup your sats on each DISEqC option according to what YOU have setup on YOUR switch's ports. *** note: *** If using a Legacy Twin LNB, be sure to set your "Multi-Dish Switch" setting to SW42 Dish1 for Echo7 119w and SW42 Dish2 for Echo 8/10 110w within the "Channel Search" menu*** CNX MINI/DUO/TRIO RECEIVER MENU LAYOUT In order to follow these instructions, please be sure you are in the Menu of your CNX Machine. To navigate to your menu, from your remote, press the "Menu" button You must have scanned for channels with the satellites you have hooked into your system before adjusting any of these settings. I. Channel Manager 1. Favorite From your remote, press "OK" on "Channel Manager" Enter password (default is 0000) You should now be highlighted on, the top of your "Channel Manager" menu, the "Rename" tab From your remote, press the left button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Favorite1" The channels you have scanned should be displayed just below and highlighted on the channel you are currently tuned to You are now ready to add your favorites to "Favorite1" From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a channel of your choice While highlighted on your channel of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button A small star should appear to the far right, next to the channel indicating you have now added that channel to your "Favorite1" repeat steps G-H above to add additional channels to your "Favorite1" list Once all channels are selected to be added to your favorite list, from your remote, press the "Exit" button You should now see a popup window that states "Message Box - Save changed data?" and is highlighted on "OK" From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that states "Please wait for saving data" You should now be back in your main menu of your CNX Machine You have successfully added and saved your favorites. *** note: you have 8 total favorites lists. To change from "Favorite1" to "Favorite2", (be sure you are in your Channel Manager menu) from your remote press the yellow button. You have now switched to "Favorite2". Repeat this step to navigate through your Favorite lists 1-8. *** 2. Rename From your remote, press "OK" on "Channel Manager" Enter password (default is 0000) You should now be highlighted on, the top of your "Channel Manager" menu, the "Rename" tab The channels you have scanned should be displayed just below and highlighted on the channel you are currently tuned to You are now ready to "Rename" your channels. From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a channel of your choice While highlighted on your channel of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see an on-screen keyboard Using your remote, navigate through the letters and numbers using the left/right/up/down/ button (dial around "OK" button) From your remote, press the "OK" button to select a letter or number Once your channel has been renamed, press the exit button You should now be highlighted on the "OK" option From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now be back to your "Channel Manager" menu Repeat steps C-N for each channel you wish to rename Once all channels of your choice have been renamed, from your remote, press the "Exit" button You should now see a popup window that states "Message Box - Save changed data?" and is highlighted on "OK" From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that states "Please wait for saving data" You should now be back in your main menu of your CNX Machine You have successfully renamed your channels 3. Move From your remote, press "OK" on "Channel Manager" Enter password (default is 0000) You should now be highlighted on, the top of your "Channel Manager" menu, the "Rename" tab From your remote, press the right button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Move" The channels you have scanned should be displayed just below and highlighted on the channel you are currently tuned to You are now ready to "Move" your channels. From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a channel of your choice While highlighted on your channel of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button The channel number should have changed to an up and down arrow From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight the location you would like to move your channel to *** The channel you select to move, will be located AFTER the highlighted channel location *** Once you have chosen a location, from your remote, press the green "EPG" button (lower legend displays a green icon with the word "Move") Your channel should have moved to it's new location Once your channel has been moved, press the exit button You should now see a popup window that states "Message Box - Save changed data?" and is highlighted on "OK" From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that states "Please wait for saving data" You should now be back in your main menu of your CNX Machine You have successfully moved and saved your channel of choice *** note: Repeat steps G-K to move additional channels of your choice *** 4. Lock From your remote, press "OK" on "Channel Manager" Enter password (default is 0000) You should now be highlighted on, the top of your "Channel Manager" menu, the "Rename" tab From your remote, press the right button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Lock" The channels you have scanned should be displayed just below and highlighted on the channel you are currently tuned to You are now ready to "Lock" your channels From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a channel of your choice While highlighted on your channel of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button A small lock icon should appear to the far right, next to the channel indicating you have now locked that channel repeat steps G-H above to lock any additional channels of your choice Once all channels are selected to be locked, from your remote, press the "Exit" button You should now see a popup window that states "Message Box - Save changed data?" and is highlighted on "OK" From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that states "Please wait for saving data" You should now be back in your main menu of your CNX Machine You have successfully locked your channels. 5. Delete From your remote, press "OK" on "Channel Manager" Enter password (default is 0000) You should now be highlighted on, the top of your "Channel Manager" menu, the "Rename" tab From your remote, press the right button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Delete" The channels you have scanned should be displayed just below and highlighted on the channel you are currently tuned to You are now ready to "Delete" your channels From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a channel of your choice While highlighted on your channel of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button The channel number should have changed to a small trash can icon indicating you have now marked that channel for deletion repeat steps G-H above to mark any additional channels of your choice for deletion Once all channels are selected to be deleted, from your remote, press the blue button your channel(s) should have been removed from your list Once all selected channels are deleted from your list, from your remote, press the "Exit" button You should now see a popup window that states "Message Box - Save changed data?" and is highlighted on "OK" From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that states "Please wait for saving data" You should now be back in your main menu of your CNX Machine You have successfully deleted your selected your channels. *** note: You can delete groups of channels by Transponder or by Satellite. To do this, press the yellow button on your remote and look at the "CH Del" tab as it will change from "CH Del" to "TP Del" to "SAT Del". Then repeat steps G-H above once you've selected your method of deleting channels *** COMING SOON!! II. Installations Channel Search DISEqC Switch Motor Setup III. Options 1. OSD Setup OSD Language From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the different languages From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a language of your choice Once you've highlighted your language of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's language From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Audio Language" Audio Language From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the different audio languages From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight an audio language of your choice Once you've highlighted your audio language of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's audio language From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Subtitle Language" Subtitle Language From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the different subtitle languages From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a subtitle language of your choice Once you've highlighted your audio language of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's subtitle language From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Display Info Bar" Display Info Bar From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the different times in seconds From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a time of your choice Once you've highlighted the time of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's info bar time From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "OSD Position" OSD Position From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the "OSD Position" You should also be highlighted on "Hor Position" From your remote, press the left/right button (dial around "OK" button), until you adjust the horizontal position to your liking Once you've adjusted the "Hor Position" to your liking, from your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "Ver Poisition" Once highlighted on "Ver Position", from your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button) until you adjust the vertical position to your liking Once you've adjusted the "Ver Position" to your liking, from your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "OK" Once highlighted on "OK", from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's on screen display position From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Screen Format" Screen Format From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the different screen formats From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a format of your choice Once you've highlighted the format of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's screen format From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Channel History" Channel History From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the different number of channels that will be saved to your receivers history From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight 10, 20, or 30 Once you've highlighted the channl history of choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's channel history *** note: Once the above settings have been set in the "OSD Setup" menu, from your remote, press the "Exit" button to go back to your receiver's main menu. 2. Control Panel RF Channel From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the 2 different channel numbers (CH3 and CH4) From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight CH3 or CH4 Once you've highlighted CH3 or CH4, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's RF channel output From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Closed Caption" Closed Caption From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the 2 different options (ON and OFF) From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight ON or OFF Once you've highlighted ON or OFF, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's closed caption option From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "EPG Time Display" EPG Time Display From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays 60-180 Min From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight one of the 60-180 Min options Once you've highlighted one of the 60-180 Min options, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's epg time display From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Dish/Bell EPG" Dish/Bell EPG From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the different epg days for both dish and bell From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight one of the day options Once you've highlighted one of the day options, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's Dish/Bell EPG *** note: This also works if you are using just ONE of the above providers From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Renumbering" Renumbering From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays 2 options (Dish or Bell) From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight one of the 2 options Once you've highlighted one of the 2 options, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your receiver's provider renumbering in your epg *** note: If you want Dish to be ordered in its normal order, then select "Bell" *** note: If you want Bell to be ordered in its normal order, then select "Dish" From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Local Area" Local Area From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays "Local Area Settings" and should be highlighted on "Country" While highlighted on "Country", from your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays "None" and "USA" From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "USA" Once you've highlighted "USA", from your remote, press the "OK" button From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "State" While highlighted on "State", from your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays many different states From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight your state While highlighted on your state, from your remote, press the "OK" button From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "City" While highlighted on "City", from your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays many different cities for the state you chose above From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight your city While highlighted on your city, from your remote, press the "OK" button From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "OK" While highlighted on "OK", from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup your local channels according to your state and city From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Full Channle Name" Full Channel Name From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the 2 different options ("ON" and "OFF") From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "ON" or "OFF" Once you've highlighted "ON" or "OFF", from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup full channel names for your receiver From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Auto TP" Auto TP From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the 2 different options ("ON" and "OFF") From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "ON" or "OFF" Once you've highlighted "ON" or "OFF", from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup auto transponder detection for your receiver From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Front LED" Front LED From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the 2 different options ("Normal" and "OFF") From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "Normal" or "OFF" Once you've highlighted "Normal" or "OFF", from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now turned the front LED light of your receiver "On" or "Off" *** note: Once the above settings have been set in the "Control Panel" menu, from your remote, press the "Exit" button to go back to your receiver's main menu. 3. Time Adjust Local Time From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the different time zones by hour From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight your timezone *** ex; -5:00 = Eastern Time, -6:00 = Central Time, -7:00 = Mountain Time, -8:00 = Pacific Time Once you've highlighted your time zone, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now setup the time zone for your zone and for your receiver From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Summer Time" Summer Time (A.K.A. Daylight Savings Time) From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays 2 options ("On" or "Off") From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "On" or "Off" Once you've highlighted "On" or "OFF", from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now set your Summer Time (A.K.A Daylight Savings Time) option From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Year" Year From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays different years From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight the current year Once you've highlighted the current year, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now set the current year to your receiver From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Month" Month From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays different months From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight the current month Once you've highlighted the current month, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now set the current month to your receiver From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Date" Date From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays different numbers (these are dates) From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight the current date Once you've highlighted the current date, from your remote, press the "OK" button You have now set the current date to your receiver From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Hour" Hour From your remote, using the number pad, enter the time You have now set the current time to your receiver *** Time must be set according to Military/24-Hour time *** note: Once the above settings have been set in the "Time Adjust" menu, from your remote, press the "Exit" button to go back to your receiver's main menu. 4. Parental Lock (enabling) (enter password; default is 0000) Parental Lock From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays 2 options ("On" or "Off") From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "On" Once you've highlighted "On", from your remote, press the "OK" button From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Parental Level" Parental Level From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays the different program ratings From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight a rating of your choice Once you've highlighted a rating of your choice, from your remote, press the "OK" button From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Install Lock" Install Lock From your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window that displays 2 options ("On" or "Off") From your remote, press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button), go to/highlight "On" Once you've highlighted "On", from your remote, press the "OK" button From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "New Password" New Password (OPTIONAL) From your remote, using the number pad, enter a new password You have successfully made a new password *** TIP: Be sure to write your new password down FIRST/BEFORE entering into the receiver From your remote, press the down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight "Confirm Password" Confirm Password (OPTIONAL) (Must be done if you have changed pasword above) From your remote, using the number pad, enter the same password that you entered in the instructions above (New Password) You have successfully confirmed your new password *** TIP: Be sure to write your new password down FIRST/BEFORE entering into the receiver *** note: Once the above settings have been set in the "Parental Lock" menu, from your remote, press the "Exit" button to go back to your receiver's main menu. Searching By "Title" From EPG, Press and select the "Sort/Fn" button from remote - Search Condition window appears Select "Title" in the "Target String" box Using On Screen Keyboard, type in the name of the program you are searching for Once program name is entered, press "Exit" button from remote From this point, the "OK" button will be highlighted on your screen Press "OK" button from remote You should now see a progress bar as it retrieves information from EPG First day will appear with program titles that contain the program name of which you entered above To see future days, you must have populated your EPG a full 7 days, otherwise, you will only get programming information of what the EPG is currently holding for channel information. To view the next day, press right arrow key from remote (dial around "OK" button) To view the previous day, press left arrow key from remote (dial around "OK" button) *** note: You can exit Program Search by "Title" at any time by pressing the "EXIT" button from remote *** *** note: You can reserve a program in Program Search by pressing the record button on your remote (Duo/Trio receivers, press record button 2 times to reserve, press once to reserve for recording)*** 2. Searching By "Story" (searches for keyword within the detailed info of a program, instead of a program title) From EPG, Press and select the "Sort/Fn" button from remote - Search Condition window appears Select "Story" in the "Target String" box Using On Screen Keyboard, type in the Keyword you are searching for Once your keyword is entered, press "Exit" button from remote From this point, the "OK" button will be highlighted on your screen Press "OK" button from remote You should now see a progress bar as it retrieves information from EPG First Day will appear with program titles, whos program information contains your keywords To see future days, you must have populated your EPG a full 7 days, otherwise, you will only get programming information of what the EPG is currently holding for channel information. To view the next day, press right arrow key from remote (dial around "OK" button) To view the previous day, press left arrow key from remote (dial around "OK" button) *** note: You can exit Program Search by "Story" at any time by pressing the "EXIT" button from remote *** *** note: You can reserve a program in Program Search by pressing the record button on your remote (Duo/Trio receivers, press record button 2 times to reserve, press once to reserve for recording)*** II. Theme Search 1. Theme Searching by "All Channels" Press the number "0" button from remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode Press right button (dial around "OK" button) You should now be highlighted and on "All Theme" Press down button (dial around "OK" button)to select/highlight a Theme/Category Press "OK" button from remote to view the listing of the selected/highlighted Theme Press left button (dial around "OK" button) to go to your channels in the right window Press Up or Down buttons (dial around "OK" button) to select/highlight a channel of your liking Press "OK" button from remote to view selected/highlighted channel Press "OK" again to view channel and exit Theme Search mode *** note: You can exit Theme Search at any time by pressing the "EXIT" button from remote *** 2. Color Controls/Adjustments Press the "SORT/Fn" button from remote while watching LIVE TV or in Normal Viewing mode On board color control panel appears Use arrow up and down buttons (dial around "OK" button) to highlight/select, the color option that you want to change Once color option is highlighted/selected, use the left/right arrow buttons (dial around "OK" button)to increase/decrease the highlighted/selected color option Once your settings are to your liking, press "EXIT" button from remote your are now done with adjusting your picture/color *** note: Default color settings for CNX are all set at 32 *** IV. 7 Day EPG 2:30 second 7 Day EPG (Echostar Only) Press the green "EPG" button from remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode Press the red "Audio" button from remote while in EPG Your channel and EPG are both on channel 239 for Echostar sats Press the blue button with speaker icon from your remote and scroll ahead to the 7th day in your EPG 2:30 seconds later you will have a fully populated 7 day EPG *** note: if EPG does not populate, manually reboot receiver using rocker switch on the back and repeat steps above *** 5 Minute Download 7 Day EPG (Echostar Only) Press the green "EPG" button from remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode Press the red "Audio" button from remote while in EPG Your channel and EPG are both on channel 239 for Echostar sats Press the red "Audio" button from remote a second time while in EPG and on channel 239 Your EPG Informtion is now downloading 5 minutes later you will have a fully populated 7 day EPG *** note: if EPG does not populate, manually reboot receiver using rocker switch on the back and repeat steps above *** V. Viewing Images/Playing MP3's On Your Mini/Duo/Trio Be sure to load a USB drive or external HDD to the USB port of your receiver (duo/trio, use rear USB port or front USB) Press Play button from remote You should now see an onscreen menu with your files listed Press down/up button (dial around "OK" button) to navigate to your file Select/highlight your file or image Press "OK" button from remote to view or play your file Press exit to go back to your file menu during/after viewing an image or playing an mp3 *** note: more functionality will be added to these machines for both the viewer and mp3 player *** VI. Program Reservation/Reminder Press the green "EPG" button from remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode Go to and highlight a channel you would like to view that comes on later in the day Once your program is selected/highlighted, press the red "Record" button (red dot button located towards the bottom of the remote, left side) from remote while in EPG. Duo/Trio receivers must press the red "Record" button (red dot button located towards the bottom of the remote, left side) from remote while in EPG 2 times to reserve a program. A green icon should now appear over your highlighted program, indicating that your program has now been reserved Your CNX will now tune to that channel when the program starts. You have finished reserving your program. ADVANCED RECEIVER PROGRAMMING (S/W + ALL DATA UPGRADE) Before we start this portion, we must save our "Upgrade/BIN/Firmware" file to our USB Drive or HDD. We will go over saving this "Upgrade/BIN/Firmware" file first, then proceed to programming this saved "Upgrade/BIN/Firmware" file. Plug USB Drive/Thumbstick Into CNX Mini/Duo/Trio(TOP) Front USB Port Located Behind The Front Panels Right Hand Side Door Using Your Remote, Press The Menu Button Press left button (dial around "OK" button) to Utility Press down/up button (dial around "OK" button) to and highlight "USB" Press "OK" button from remote on the selected/highlighted "USB" option You should now be inside the USB menu Press the green "EPG" button from remote (Legend at bottom of your USB Menu says "Save Data" with a green icon) You should now see a popup window Press down/up button (dial around "OK" button) to navigate to and highlight "All S/W Data (UPB)" or "All S/W Data (UNO)" Press "OK" button from remote on the highlighted selection "All S/W Data (UPB)" or "All S/W Data (UNO)" You should now see another popup that states "Please Wait...Checking USB" Once the file is saved you will see another popup that states "Flash save success" Press "OK" button from remote Your "Upgrade File/BIN/Firmware" file has been saved with every ssingle setting you have setup in your entire CNX menu (including keys). Proceed to programming below Before we program, be sure you have the NEWEST factory "Upgrade/BIN/Firmware" file (Mini = 6.08 - Duo/Trio = 5.08) loaded to your CNX machine if upgrading a virgin receiver. Plug USB Drive/Thumbstick Into CNX Mini/Duo/Trio(TOP) Front USB Port Located Behind The Front Panels Right Hand Side Door Using Your Remote, Press The Menu Button Press left button (dial around "OK" button) to Utility Press down/up button (dial around "OK" button) to and highlight "USB" Press "OK" button from remote on the selected/highlighted "USB" option You should now be inside the USB menu Press down button (dial around "OK" button), go to and select/highlight the "Upgrade/BIN/Firmware" file you saved/just saved (note: the name of the saved file starts with 4 numbers, these 4 numbers are the month and day you saved the "Upgrade/BIN/Firmware" file to your USB or HDD drive) Press "OK" button from remote on the selected/highlighted "Upgrade/BIN/Firmware" file you saved. You should now see a popup window Press down/up button (dial around "OK" button) to and highlight "S/W + All Data Upgrade" Press "OK" button from remote on the selected/highlighted "S/W + All Data Upgrade" Your receiver should be programming now Once done programming, your receiver will reboot You are now done programming your CNX and you dont even have to go into your system menu to setup any settings! *** note: Duo/Trio owners: If you cannot find your USB drive or HDD, press the red "Audio" button from remote while inside your USB menu. Upon the ppopup window, select the port that your USB or HDD drive is on, then you should be good to go. *** *** note: When upgrading your CNX with "Upgrade Files" be sure to do a fresh "Save Data" after loading the "Upgrade File" *** TIME MACHINE/TIMESHIFT/RECORDING/PLAYBACK (Duo & Trio Only) I. Time Machine Before proceeding with this option, be sure to have a USB Drive or External HDD hooked up to either front or rear port of your Duo/Trio & be sure to configure your port within the USB menu of your Duo/Trio. My recommended minimum USB storage size is 1GB 1. Enabling Time Machine Using Your Remote, Press The Menu Button Press left button (dial around "OK" button) to "Accessory" Press down/up button (dial around "OK" button)and navigate to/highlight "Time Machine" Press "OK" button from remote on the selected/highlighted "Time Machine" option You should now be inside the "Time Machine" menu and higlighted on "File Size" Press left/right button (dial around "OK" button) to your desired file size 512mb = 1/2 hour, 1GB = 1 hour, 2GB = 2 hours, 3GB = 3 hours, 4GB = 4 hours This writes a file to your USB or HDD drive depending on the size selected above. Once file size is selected, press down button (dial around "OK" button) to/highlight "Create" Press "OK" button from remote on the selected/highlighted option "Create" You should now see a popup window that states "Please Wait....Checking USB" Once completed, your "Create" button should have now changed to "Disable" You have now enabled Time Machine on your Duo/Trio II. Timeshift/Timeshifting Before proceeding with this option, be sure your "Time Machine" is enabled (instructions above) 1. Pausing Live TV Press the pause button "II" from remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode Live TV has now been paused Now press the play button ">" from remote You are now picking up from where you paused Now press the stop button "[]" from your remote You have now returned to Live TV 2. Rewinding Live TV Press the rewind button "<<" from your remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode You are now rewinding Live TV Now press fast forward button ">>" from your remote You are now forwarding through your timeshifted program Now press the stop button "[]" from your remote You have now returned to Live TV *** TIP #1: When rewinding Live TV, press the "Info" button from your remote. Next, press the left/right button (dial around "OK" button) and you will skip back/ahead in 30 second intervals. *** *** TIP #2: When rewinding Live TV, press the "Info" button from your remote. Next, PRESS and HOLD the left/right button (dial around "OK" button) and you will skip back/ahead rapidly III. Recording Before proceeding with this option, be sure to have a USB Drive or External HDD hooked up to either front or rear port of your Duo/Trio & be sure to configure your port within the USB menu of your Duo/Trio. My recommended minimum USB storage size is 1GB 1. Recording On The Fly Press the record button (button with a red DOT, located above the Setup/TV/Radio button) from your remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode. You should now see a popup window that states "Please Wait....Checking USB" Once the popup window disappears, your recording has started *** note: You can press the stop button "[]" at anytime during your recording to exit out of recording mode *** *** TIP: You can press the pause button "II" at anytime during your recording to pause your recording. To resume viewing your paused recording, press the play button ">" from your remote.*** 2. Timer recording from EPG to record a future program Press the green "EPG" button from your remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode Press right button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight a program that is tuning at a later time Once your program is highlighted, press the record button (button with a red DOT, located above the Setup/TV/Radio button) from your remote A red dot or icon will appear over your highlighted program You have now setup a timer recording *** note: Timer recording will stop recording at the end of your program on its own. *** *** note: Additional timer recording options available within your Time Record menu (Menu - Utility - Time Record) *** 3. Recording one channel while watching another Before we proceed with this option, you must understand that this only works with channels that are available on the SAME transponder as your recording channel. Press the record button (button with a red DOT, located above the Setup/TV/Radio button) from your remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode. You should now see a popup window that states "Please Wait....Checking USB" Once the popup window disappears, your recording has started Now, from your remote, press the "OK" button You should now see a popup window on the right side of your TV screen with channels available to choose from Press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight one of the available channels From your remote, press the "OK" button on one of the seclected/highlighted available channels You are no watching one channel while recording another. *** note: Recording program will display with a colored purple/violet/mauve highlight that says "REC" next to the channel when you bring up the available channels by pressing the "OK" button from remote. *** note: The program you are viewing while recording another channel will display with a lime/green colored highlight that says "LIVE" next to the channel when you bring up the available channels by pressing the "OK" button from remote. IV. Playback Of Recorded Programs Press the Play button ">" from your remote while watching LIVE TV and/or in normal viewing mode You should now see a popup window with a listing of your recorded shows/images/mp3's Press the up/down button (dial around "OK" button) and go to/highlight one of your recorded programs Once your recorded program is highlighted, from your remote, press the "OK" button Your program should now start playing *** note: You can press the stop button "[]" at anytime during your playback to exit out of playback mode *** *** TIP: You can press the pause button "II" at anytime during playback to pause your playback. To resume viewing your playback, press the play button ">" from your remote.*** REVIVING/RECOVERING A CNX Before we proceed with this option, please understand that this is ONLY to be used to recover a dead or bad performing CNX unit and NOT to be used to load upgrade files or patches to! You will need to download 2 files (CNX_Util_beta_version and a ".LDR" file) in order to recover a CNX unit. As well, you will need a null modem cable to perform this option. Duo/Trio use the same .LDR file. The Mini uses a different .LDR file. Please be sure to download the right file for your machine. All 3 machines use the same recovery loader. You can find/download these files at your favorite FTA website. Please be sure to unzip/extract your downloaded files to your desktop before we start this tutorial Please hook up your receiver with a null modem cable to your pc and hook it up to power, but leave the switch located on the back to the "OFF" position. Open the CNX_Util_beta_version exe file Once opened, at the top, look for and select the "Connection" option From the dropdown, select "Connect" A new popup window will appear that states "setting option" Please select your Com Port using the dropdown within the "setting option" window (most pc's use Com port 1 as their default) Now select "Set-top box" from the top menu Under that dropdown, select "Firmware upgrade" A popup window will appear named "software upgrade" Leave all settings the way they are Look for "File to load" Under "File to load" look for and select the "Select" button In your file name box type in an "*" (without quotes) Now look for the .LDR file you downloaded and extracted to your desktop and select it Once you have loaded the .LDR file, towards the bottom of the "software upgrade" window, press the "Upgrade" button Once the "Upgrade" button is pressed, turn your CNX machine to the "ON" position using the rocker switch located on the rear of the machine The main CNX_Util_beta_version window should now start and you should see it sending requests at the lower portion of the window. Once the main CNX_Util_beta_version window stops responding, your CNX machine has been revived/recovered You can now close the "software upgrade" window Now MAXIMIZE the main CNX_Util_beta_version window The last line of the sent requests should say something like "Branding to loaded code image’s entry". This is an indication/confirmation that your unit has been fully recovered Close all windows, remove your unit and test it to be sure its been recovered. *** note: Loading this .LDR file will also have loaded the NEW factory bin file ***
