| CNX Bin File Clarification C/P Many people are unsure what the files for CNX machines are used for or how to use them. here is a down and dirty quick explanation of these files and what they do. Upgrade files - UPB/UNO Files: These files include upgrades/features with a patch file included inside the bin itself. This is an all in one bin which also opens your channels. Patch Files: These files are a small part of the main UPB/UNO bin and can be built to be loaded by itself. This file is much smaller than a UPB/UNO file because these files are compiled for quick release to get your channels back up and running during dark days. A fulll upgrade file will follow usually a day or 2 after these patch releases so the end user does not have to load a bunch of files. This file is only needed and released when we see a dark day. One patch file works for all 3 receivers (Mini/Duo/Trio). Factory Bin Files: Factory bin files are to help remove corruption from your machine and to set your machine back up to its factory state. Factory bins are released usually when a feature is added to the Upgrade files. This is sometimes released to take on the features needed to upgrade. Its always recommended to upgrade your machine with a new factory file once released then load over it with new upgrade file. STBData files: These files are saved files from your receiver to your USB and contains all your channel information and dish setup information. These are helpful when setting up a new receiver for the first time. New Feature Added To New Bins (5.08 & 6.08) With the release of the newest factory bins, we now see whats coming for the CNX Machines. These new bins now have an option to save ALL your settings as one bin file (DTP/UNO) with one press of the button within USB menu. These new saved files will allow one to program their receiver with all the settings they have setup within their receiver and not just the channel list and dish setup but ALL settings. If anyone else would like to add to this post please do so....hope this helps clear some confusion to the bin files and their uses.... Here is how i load my receivers up whether it be a Mini/Duo/Trio: Load Factory File = Bootloader Load Upgrade File = Bootloader Load Upgrade File = S/W Load Channel List = Does not give an option and just loads (if there is no channel list to load then proceed to Channel Search menu and scan). Done....let keys roll and It's good to go. |
