CNX Server Downtime Expected (September 8, 2009)
This is a WARNING and is not a definite but expect some downtime/freezing soon on the following recievers:

-CNX Mini
-CNX Duo
-CNX Trio
-CNX Nano1

The following recievers servers will be experiencing and upgrade VERY soon might not be today but expect freezing and possible downtime....

NANO 2 WILL STAY UP WITH NO FREEZEING!! IT IS ON A DIFFERENT ALREADY AND CAN CONFIRM NANO2 SHOULD EXPERIENCE NO MORE PROBLEMS!!! The nano2 was like the test server for the upgrades and IKS registration!

there are multiple servers for these and we are trying to route all traffic to one or more servers then upgrade the one... this could cause alot of freezing and crashing of course

so please b patient there is no time estimate when or how long this will happen for


ALSO the server upgrades SHOULD also need a new bin and require IKS Server Registration for the older models just a warning incase you are running a fake dongle

As always there is no guarantee of these feature or possible downtime but this is what is planned for the near future and just thought I would let all know to help prevent confusion and a bunch of threads asking the same thing.


Mainly IKS registration is a section in the Nano2 which actually registers you console with the IKS server... it is basically a way to keep "prying eyes" away from trying to get into the server when you select IKS registration the server will check your serial number if it is a possible match it allows you onto the server kinda like match the passkey kinda thing but CNX does not store user information... if you ever wonder when you hit IKS registration and it says ok and comes back with 2 values that is the server actually checking those "sections of code".

There are some members out there who got the brilliant idea to use "fake dongles" aka just a serial to ethernet dongle not the one authorized by us... I am currently unsure of the model being used but it apparently works and CNX is furious because it is making paying customers who help pay for the server getting screwed over by cheapscats... so this IKS registration allow to weed out the fake dongles... as long as you are running a cnx dongle you will be fine but there is no 100% certainty that there will be IKS registration or even a new bin just wanted to give the heads up.

You say the Nano 2 is up and running? I just bought one yesterday and have no idea how to get it up and running. If anyone can help, I will be in your debt. I have hooked up everything the right way and get the ip to show and I have installed the npn file 1.15 but when I try to register my iks, it says please wait..... then it says error.
All channels say scrambled. I searched the satellite nimiq 1 but only one info channel comes in, all others say scrambled. If Dish network is up let me know and I will try that sat out. Thanks in advance.
