Vancouver police issue warning about former BC Lion facing sex assault charges

VANCOUVER, B.C. - Vancouver police have issued a rare public warning about a former B.C. Lions player who faces sexual assault charges.

Police say Joshua Joseph Boden, who faces two counts of sexual assault, one count of resisting arrest and one count of obstructing an officer, is being released from custody.

Police say it's an extraordinary step to issue such a public warning but they believe that Boden poses a safety risk to the community.

Twenty-three-year-old Boden was arrested on Labour Day, after two police officers witnessed a man fondling a woman. The man fled but was taken into custody after a brief struggle with police.

Boden was later also charged in an incident in late August.

He played with the Lions as a wide receiver in the 2006-07 CFL season.
