Hasselbeck suffers broken rib in loss to 49ers

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck broke a rib in Sunday's 23-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but could still play against the Chicago Bears this week, coach Jim Mora said on Monday.


"He (Hasselbeck) seems to be doing a lot better today, certainly than he was yesterday," Mora said on NFL.com. "So we'll take it day by day. He's a tough guy. We'll see where he is as we go through this week."

Hasselbeck sustained the injury during the first half of the game in San Francisco when he was tackled while trying to get into the end zone and replaced by backup Seneca Wallace.

Wallace is expected to start next Sunday against Chicago if Hasselbeck is ruled out.
