• According to a Government Accountability Office report the flu, both regular and H1N1, could cause an internet overload. Should the flu become a pandemic the surge in telecommuting and kids accessing games and files could bog down local networks.
• The US National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the US Rural Utilities Service (RUS) may reduce the number of broadband stimulus funding rounds from three to two due to scheduling, staffing and data challenges in reviewing the applications.
•The US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit has selected Jan. 8, 2010 as the date for oral arguments to be heard regarding Comcast’s appeal of the FCC’s network management decision in the BitTorrent case.
