| Another day, another series of developments in video's migration to the interwebs. First, comScore released new data this week that shows users of Hulu, Amazon and NBC Universal helped drive a 6% y/y increase in total online video consumption this January. According to the firm, Hulu generated 31.3M unique viewers during the month (17.2% of all U.S. online video viewing), as compared to 24.9M (14.5% market share) in Jan. 2011. Amazon totaled 27.9M viewers (15.4%) thanks largely to hosting traffic, while NBCU tallied 27M viewers (14.9%). Other interesting results from comScore: Both NBCU and Amazon did not rank in the top 10 online video destinations in Jan. 2011; the number of people watching online video jumped from 171M in 1/11 to 181M in 1/12; YouTube still reigns supreme with 84% of the market (152M unique viewers); and music video site VEVO comes in at #2 with 51.4M unique viewers (28.3% market share). In other WebTV news: • Netflix unveiled a multi-year licensing agreement with The Weinstein Company for exclusive access to several of the company's movie titles including Academy Award nominee "The Artist" and Oscar nominee "Undefeated." Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but details can be found here. • Facebook is making its movie-streaming debut on Friday with a film called "Tomorrow, When the War Began." Reports say the film is an Australian production about teens fighting the military... Social e-commerce firm Milyoni is handling the Facebook release; the movie will also be available on iTunes, VUDU, Amazon, YouTube and iN Demand. Reports also say Facebook will earn a 30% share of revenues from the stream. • Blockbuster signed a major deal with Samsung to put the Blockbuster On Demand service on "virtually all" of the CE maker's TVs and Blu-ray players. The move is significant as speculation had swirled this week about Blockbuster's future after TiVo (and others) decided to stop supporting the service. A deal with Samsung will dramatically increase Blockbuster's reach considering the former company's position in TV sales. • 20th Century Fox is getting into the game with the release of web-series "Wolfpack of Reseda." The internet show is the first from Fox Digital Entertainment, a small division of the movie studio. •
