New Net TV Feature Brings Web Access to TV Platform
Philips last week took the wraps off its long-awaited Net TV feature, a new addition to its high-end HDTVs that allows the user to access the internet via their TV remote.

And I know what you're thinking, but according to Philips this is not your father's WebTV experience.

Net TV -- which will be available on Philips' 8000 and 9000 series TVs as well as its Cinema 21:9 set -- will provide access to a number of different web sites, all formatted to work with the TV-and-remote browsing combo (like larger text for reading from a distance). To date, the WiFi-based service (although 8000 series TVs require a wired connection) can access sites including YouTube, eBay, Netlog and Funspot, though non-formatted sites might be tough to browse via the remote.

According to Philips, Net TV will start showing up on the market starting in April.
