Lots happening on the sky front today as DTH platforms around the world add services channels and more:

• Staring on October 28, all 24 of France 3's regional channels will be available to French households equipped with a dish to receive Eutelsat's ATLANTIC BIRD(TM) 3 and a subscription-free FRANSAT decoder. France 3's long-term contract with Eutelsat is part of the progressive digitization of France's broadcasting network.
• In an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel, James Murdoch showed his continued support for the German pay-TV operator, Sky Deutschland. Murdoch highlighted the difficulties of trying to compete with the BBC in the European market because BBC makes it more difficult for private publishing companies to operate profitable journalism on the internet.
• DIRECTV is extending its use of Oracle CRM On Demand. The extended use of the contact center app will allow sales and support personnel to work directly with DIRECTV dealers and provide faster service. Oracle Contact On Demand allows contact managers to identify problems based on contact volume and correct the issues within hours.
• BSkyB is prolonging its partnership with OpenTV by licensing OpenTV’s patents and intellectual property rights to help the current development of the company’s digital TV platform. In addition, the two companies are working to finish a concept that could lead to the launching of OpenTV Core 3 on some of Sky’s set-top boxes.•
