Satellite : Eutelsat Supports Platforma HD, GeoEye Launch a Success

Platforma HD, the Russian all-HDTV platform, has selected the Eurobird 9 satellite operated by Eutelsat to deliver new HD content across Western parts of Russia to the Urals. The platform was initially launched in August in order to offer Platforma HD's first subscribers the Beijing Olympics in HD with the Eurosport HD channel --- GeoEye, provider of satellite, aerial and geospatial information, called the launch of its GeoEye-1 high-resolution commercial Earth-imaging satellite a success. The spacecraft lifted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California during a mission that took place this past weekend. The satellite and company will provide new map images and technology to Google.
