• The SCBA’s kick-off training webinar focused on online training tools. The one-hour session showcased the cost-effectiveness of online training and certification which can help companies cut travel costs and allow users to go at their own speed. Noted Becky Magnotta of DISH Network, “Online training is like DVR’s, you can do it whenever you have the time.”
• VT iDirect Inc. has announced that SIMS Group has launched its iDirect-based DVB-S2 broadband satellite service. The network will expand the bandwidth efficiency to government and commercial agencies throughout the US, the Caribbean islands and Latin America.
• Stratos Global Corp. will be providing the Government of Canada with an exclusive channel on Inmarsat’s BGAN mobile broadband satellite service. This BGAN Lease Service is valued at $2 million CAD.
• The Ariane 5 is set to launch today from the French spaceport in Kourou carrying SES World Skies' NSS-12 and Telenor Satellite's Thor 6.
