Anderson Silva claims to have signed contract to box Roy Jones Jr.

Anderson Silva claims in a recent interview with Gazeta de Povo that he has signed some contracts that will see him take on legendary boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. when his UFC contract is up.
Jones and Silva have stated a sincere desire to face one another for the past two years and it is believed that Silva approached UFC President Dana White about such a matchup. White quickly shot down the request as he does not want to see one of his prized fighters get injured or embarrassed by fighting Jones under boxing rules.
Jones even offered to fight Silva under MMA rules but White shot that down just as quick. Jones has had a remarkable career spanning nearly two decades. He has held many major titles and owns a career record of 53-5.
Silva took the UFC by storm from his first match on and has hardly been tested while amassing a record of 9-0 inside the octagon. He won the middleweight title from Rich Franklin at UFC 64 in October of 2006 and has made 5 consecutive title defenses.
On August 8th he will venture back up to the light heavyweight division to take on former 205lb champion Forrest Griffin at UFC 101. His first foray as a light heavyweight was against James Irvin in July of 2008 and Silva required a mere sixty one seconds to dispose of Irvin via knockout. Silva has shown remarkable striking skills throughout his career. He combines deadly accuracy with speed and strength to dispatch of his opponents. He has been taken past the 2nd round just two times in nine fights inside the octagon.
Back to his desire to fight Jones, Silva has maintained all along that he plans on retiring from mixed martial arts once his UFC contract expires. During the interview Silva stated that he and Jones have talked too much for them not to fight and that some contracts have been signed. He went on to say that it was not for money or for fame. They were doing it strictly for desire.
Silva also said that he has been a fan of Roy Jones for a long time now and that he has no qualms with the way the UFC has treated him. Silva also has other projects in mind after his fighting days are complete. He would like to spend more time with his children and wants to share his knowledge with younger children as a trainer.
After his fight with Griffin next weekend, Silva will have three fights remaining on his current UFC contract.
