DIsh has HD channels for a while now. varius sats have them 110, 119, 129,61.5 you would a HD receiver and a 8psk Module Board to get Dish HD

I have A SonicVeiw HD 8000 and I'm using two satillites from Dish.
I would like to know what channels are in HD format. Normally on Bev it always shows on the bottom of the screen that the channel is in HD.

If one needs the 8PSK board to get HD, then why is it just not built it in as part of the unit? Is there some reasoning behind this?

No reason to it or anything behind it. The Module is very simple to install. Maybe in the future they will have it built in so you don't have to worry it. But like I said its very easy to install.

I know it's easy, I've installed a few. I just don't understand the logic of: Someone purchases an HD STB but it is not capable of receiving HD unless one spends additional money on an 8PSK module. So why not just make and sell the HD STB's so that when you buy it, it actually receives HD out of the box.

The main reason is if they install the 8psk in the receiver it is not a true FTA Receiver anymore and then they can't get it through custom's to enter the US or Canada, Hope this explanes this to you.

Yes Cougar, I knew there had to be some reason, It just seemed weird to me. But now I know.
