master lock or code is when you have a password set on a reciver and you forgot that one unique set of numbers. this is the "master passwords"

it keeps the teens from seeing x-rated movies and also you have control of the FTA so again your setting you have setup can not be changed without you doing it
you can remove channels you do not want others to see and also the settings for your birds so you do not have to set it all back again you can turn off the master code ... but I leave mine on because of the grand children that way they can not go to town and push buttons and screw things up ...also if you forget the code you can get hold of the company or sometimes n the instructions manual it will have the back door key you get in again and this time write what you 4 digit code down and in a place you only know

master codes are like a pick for locks!! all pansats have one they are 1010 or 8282 if you forget your pin you will have to use the master code to get in your stb!! i have had to use them too!!
