"Open Serial Port" error code - please help

I was wondering... If someone were to attempt to upload a fix and encountered an error "open serial port" how could that error be resolved. I had thought that going to "tool" and "configuration" with in the loader software might satisfy that error, however, have heard that this does not help. I was also thinking that if I were to change to a different "com" configuration that I might see an "error in initializing". What thoughts are out there?

a little more information might help like witch receiver ?and what are you trying to load? do you have the right cable?right file?message that you are getting is it on the pc? what does it do if you unplug the cable from the receiver and you try loading the file. those it say connect receiver ?

What box do u have?

Depends on what box you have... There are different tools for that box to upload the fixs.

What i am thinking is that you have a buzz or a buzz plus.. Just a thought.

On some kinds of Loaders there's an "Open" com port, you would have to click that buton to "open" the com port before you can begin Downloading/Uploading the files!! Usually on the top right hand corner but it could be anywhere on the loader program, when you open it up!! Let us know what Receivers your refering to?? ThanX Satguy2

this brings to mind a cool question..

does your computer have a com port?
If it does what settings are configured for use on it from your bios settings?
most of these issues are computer related not loader related.

This topic is all too familiar, I just tried to add a PCI Serial card to my older desktop with no avail. In device manager it would appear to installed correctly but would not communicate at all, it kept just giving me a port error message. Never could get it had to go back to the laptop with my USB to serial adapter. Any thoughts about this anyone? I thought it might be the loader at first but now think it may be the computer, as rene****9999 said.
