| I'm sorry for posting the same question twice but thought it would be better to just put it on a new Thread... Hi guys, I'm new to the FTA world and need some guidance... I just purchased a new Coolsat 6100 and want to connect it to my existing Direct TV setup. I thought I would be able to connect an extra cable I have and I would get the same channels I subscribe for (basically get an extra receiver without having to lease it from DTV). I was later told that I would actually be able to get extra channels and it would all be plug-and-play. The truth is when I connect the new receiver I'm not able to get any channel at all. Is what i'm trying to accomplish possible at all? Do I need to purchase anything or do I just have to get a complete new dish? Thank you in advance, Nick in NJ. |

| In all honesty ncascais the answer is no direct tv is not open to the free to air community so if you want to have it on more then one television in your home you'll have to sub another receiver from them.

| The answer is no! your FTA is not made to get Dave's encryption and also the dish will not work but for 1 the switch in the lnb's will not work and if you have single LNB you only get 1 bird you can use dish's and a sw21 switch and get 110 and 119 |

| Thank you very much for the responses. If I purchase a new dish, which LNB should I be looking to purchase so I can get these channels? I saw on Ebay (just for reference) a few Quad LNBs but not sure which one to pick since some are described as Legacy and some just don't say anything... Also, do you guys recommend any site to purchase this equipment? Again, thank you in advance for all the help!!! Nick |

| Hello ncascais, I, myself have a dish 500 with a legacy quad. legacy quads have a built-in switch so you would be able to set up 4 receivers on one LNB and point to both 119 and 110 or Bev. reasonably inexpensive to buy used on auction sites. Just beware who you buy from. Been ripped-off before. Check the feedback and rep before you buy. |

| I may be wrong but from what i have always been told about any kind of dish will work for FTA, its mainly the LNB's the are biggies. In fact i know for sure where one guy i knew used a trash can lid, mounted the LNB ti it and it all worked just great, lol. Where thers a will theres a way. Remember we are "testers" not only of STB's but all things FTA. |

| True enough but a while back I remember reading about a guy that had to shorten the arm that holds the lnb on a dave dish. Just a little input. As for the extreme ariza. Ariza is out of business for the past 4 to 6 months. As far as I am aware you will have to convert (jtag) your ariza in order to get it to work.

| Actually you can get all the info you will need right on this site, just read the sections and how too's related to your STB section. These folks have put alot of time and effort into setting this site up for all of us to learn about FTA. Like i said read, read and than read some more. Good luck. |
