FTA sonicview 360 elite newbie

Hello everyone and thanks for welcomming me.
I purchased a sv 360 elite i already have a dir tv sat on house and has never been taken down. I didn't change any of the setup wiring not even to put the 4x1 diseqc switch on
I got the receiver up and working all the way to dish setting aimed at directv1,5 signal at 69 and quality at 99
Scan for channels, got a lot of them that say Echost and a few with direct and dollar signs
All the channels say no service or scrambled
what do I do
is this the right sat
a satlit finder program says I am at 35 50.220 n and 88 54.342 w and -1.61 Mag. decl
i want to watch something anything at this point
what do i do

a lot of the sats pointing west gives me a signal of 70 but no quality
i changed the sat from dtv to echo 3 and i get a signal of 72 and quality of 100 but in searching for channels i got nothing the set said either searching or locked
can someone help this newbie

you can not D/T from a fta...they are not built with the information in the fta to pick up that type of signal
also you can not use there switches...not the same frequency to make them switch and only a singe lnb can be used for D/N type birds
so try and get a different lnb and dish there are a of fta dish's and lnb's that will work with that receiver...just go to the information area and look threw what is posted on how what works best for a 360..I have one and it is a great receiver

ok but i thought read that i could use this dish i have a switch that came with the 360 will changing that work

no that that switch is for 4 single lnb's in and 1 receiver out
and to make it work best you would need 2 of those switches to the one fta using up to 4 single duel out lnbs

well i guess there is no way around it so i will not be watching any satillite any time soon can you tell me what satillite i should be trying to pick up

can you give your location and how many lnb's installed in your dish? you have to change your lnb to get DN on 110w, 119w and 129w.

he would have to find a lnb free from a d/n and make it fit on the dtv dish...he can check on of the auction sites to find what he needs and does not cost that much
he can also get a 33" wingard dish and one of the lnb's that get both circular and linear and a motor that way he can get all that that fta can pick up

you can receive everything you need to get 110 W and 119 W with a dish 500 it will give you everything you need. you don;t need to get 129 unless you have a High Definition receiver. You might look around some garage sales or pawn shops they are fairly inexpensive. Or find one on ebay.
