FTA Question

I subscribe to dish network right now. I just got an fta receiver the other day and was wondering if since the sat. is already pointed if I could just hook up the fta receiver and get channels? I have a Fortec Star: Lifetime Ultra receiver. So basically.... can I just hook it up to the existing dish without having to re-point it and still get all the channels (maybe some ppv's too)? Thanks in advance!!!!

Yes you can do that.
however unless your fortec has been converted to a different receiver the chances of finding files for it are not good.

fortec are obsolete ,so people load files in them to convert it to a different receiver that still has file support..

Okay. Where could I find files to load onto the receiver to change it. Also how would I do that? Sorry for all the questions but I have never had an FTA setup before. i do of course like the idea of it though. So I would like to try it out, Thanks again.
