FTA Nwebie question on coolsat softcam

Ok. i have been seeing files for coolsat softcams. what is it and how is it used? i have a cs6100 that is freezing, of course, but I am not sure if I need this file or of it is used with my receiver. I am trying to learn all I can. Thanks for your help.

Softcam files are a file that will load the new keys to your unit. With today's auto roll they arent used very often. I haven't had to add a set of key's in almost two years. And are loaded just like your bin files.
